Project Description

URBAN REGENERATION

KENNET HOUSE, READING

  • FoddyConsult identified and introduced this development opportunity to Crest Nicholson facilitating the unlocking of the site’s optimum residential potential, achieving an off-market purchase of the building subject to the grant of planning permission.
  • The scheme required extensive planning negotiations with Reading Borough Council and local residents to secure support for the comprehensive refurbishment and a change to residential including a significant increase in the building’s height for 103 apartments with associated parking and landscaping.
  • FoddyConsult successfully led the project delivery team providing planning and development strategy advice, coordinating the planning process, undertaking the required community consultation, securing both officer and planning committee support for the grant of planning permission. The project included securing a significantly reduced level of affordable housing, equal to 10% of the proposed apartments.
  • FoddyConsult identified the opportunity and using ‘smart’ development advice optimised the site’s potential, delivering a valuable planning permission. Our planning implementation strategy was regarded by Reading Council’s Planning Committee as an exemplar approach to the delivery of a complex prominent town centre renewal project.
